Family Shepherd’s founder, Ben Rao, has proudly joined the Community Leadership Board for the Alzheimer’s Association Heart of America Chapter. “I’m so honored to serve on the Board with this group of fine people. Many great things to come for Kansas City and increased awareness for this disease that impacts so many of us,” said Ben.
Dementia is a significant concern, impacting the lives of many families right here in Kansas City. Ben is committed to offering a helping hand and enhancing the well-being of those navigating the challenges of Alzheimer’s and dementia-related illnesses. Something Ben has been passionate about since so many of the families we work with have some form of Dementia and most have no idea of the free resources available to them from the Association.
The Alzheimer’s Association’s mission is to “lead the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.”
At the core of this effort is a shared dedication to the Senior community in Kansas City. Family Shepherd, the Alzheimer’s Association Heart of America Chapter, and many other companies in the memory care industry are on a mission to shed light on dementia, clear up misconceptions, and extend understanding and care to individuals facing dementia and their caregivers.
By not only being a member of the Board, Ben and the Family Shepherd team aim to support the Alzheimer’s Association throughout the year by participating in and promoting fundraising events like the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Plus, for the first time ever, the 19th Annual Chilifest will be an official Longest Day Event. Last year it raised thousands of dollars for the Association, with over 30 teams signed up. “By focusing our efforts, we hope to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by dementia and contribute to the global effort to find a cure.” said Ben.
