In an effort to carry on the torch for family tradition and memories, we like to highlight one family tradition or memory out of each home that we buy. So many items each or our families have, remind us of loved ones or special times that we had with friends and family member.
This was a cool 1980's Gumball machine that we added to our collection. The really neat part about this, was that the dad always liked to have candy or M&M's in this gumball machine. And all the neighborhood kids would come to Dad and ask him for a quarter so they could get a treat. What a great way to stay connected with the kids. We love the families that we work with, hearing their stories and doing a small part to carry on some of their memories and traditions.
When we buy a house, we make every effort to repurpose as much as we can. Many times we're getting 75% of the stuff repurposed to other families in need through many social organizations that we support in the Kansas City metro area. This in itself brings another level of peace and satisfaction to families, knowing that the stuff is not going to a landfill, but helping another family in need.
At Family Shepherd, we also feel it is our duty both socially and environmentally to repurpose as much as we can. Even if we have to pay to have it shipped or delivered, we do our best to get 75% of the contents of someone's house in the hands of other families in need.
